Unlike some other rooms in our house, the bathroom gives us much more freedom. For example, you would never use pictures and intricate wall designs for your living room. While decorating a bathroom, you are able to create amazing styles and use magnificent tile designs.
Why does this room get such a special treatment? Probably due to the fact that this area is not only used for hygienic needs but also for relaxation. Most homeowners love taking a shower or a bubble bath after a long work day. That being said, they require a nice, relaxing atmosphere.
Unfortunately, there are numerous things which can go wrong while decorating/renovating your bathroom. Here are 5 tips that will help you avoid potential issues.
- Rethink your space
Your bathroom doesn’t have to stay the same. If needed, you can increase it or reduce it. Available space is the first thing to be considered before anything else. In the end, based on that space, you will make your other purchases. Previously, I mentioned that your bathroom should be comfortable enough. With that in mind, make sure that yours has the perfect dimensions.
- Wall modifications
Besides tearing down your wall and moving it, there are other things you can do with it. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to create holes and dents in it. Naturally, they need to look nice and according to the overall design. One nifty trick is creating a dent in your wall which can then be used for soap and other cosmetic products. This can significantly increase available space within your shower stall. There is no need to have holders and other accessories which will eat your space preventing you from rotating while taking a shower.
- Tiles are the key
Tiles are crucial for any bathroom. Even if the rest of the bathroom is amazing, inappropriate tiles can ruin overall appearance. Aside from tile style, there are some other things which should be considered. First of all, you should never use only one type of tiles. Make sure to use two or even three different tiles which will be complimentary. For example, while one has an intricate design, other can be rather simple.
- Choosing the centerpiece
Now, after creating the basis, you can turn your attention to the centerpiece. Within a bathroom, mirror or bathtub should be used as the focal point. Have in mind that bathtubs will not be the best choice for every bathroom. Nowadays, most bathrooms have stalls. Anyway, when a guest enters your bathroom, there needs to be something that will attract his attention. Usually, our perception of the bathroom is based on that initial glimpse. If your centerpiece is impressive and it suits overall bathroom design, it will leave a good impression on the visitor.
- Optimize your space
Adding too much stuff can only hurt your bathroom. There is a good reason why more and more people are opting for a minimalistic style. This room is one of the critical areas of our home. We almost use it as a storage room. Limit the number of items which are kept inside of the bathroom. You really do not need 10 towels or 3 spare toilet tissue rolls. Remove whatever you can and make that space more comfortable.
This room has numerous functions. Like our bedroom, it should provide a certain amount of comfort and relaxation. In the end, there is nothing better than a warm shower after a long work day.
With these bathroom makeover tips, you will be able to do precisely that. Increase the available space, optimize it and use a style that makes sense.
